FAQ
Questions we get asked.
Can a DMS store its files in S3 storage?
Many DMS and ECM platforms, Alfresco among them, can keep file content in S3-compatible object storage while the metadata and search index stay in their own database. Look for an S3 connector or content store setting in your platform's documentation.
How do we stop records being altered?
Store them in a bucket with Object Lock switched on. Locked documents cannot be changed or deleted until their retention period is over.
How long should we keep business records?
That depends on the type of record and the laws behind it, such as tax, company and sector rules. Your legal and finance teams should set a retention schedule; storage rules then enforce it.
Product names belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Retention periods vary by record type and law; confirm them with your legal and finance teams.
