Cloud backup
Cloud backup storage,
locked against deletion.
Send backups from the software you already run to storage hosted in India, then lock them with Object Lock. When something goes wrong at the office, the off-site copy is still there.
- Object Lock
- Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, NAS
- Stored in India
- Billed in INR
Why off-site
A NAS in the server room is not off-site.
Fire, flooding, theft and ransomware tend to hit everything in the same building, or everything behind the same admin password. One copy needs to live somewhere else, locked.
Locked copies
Object Lock keeps each restore point unchanged until its retention date.

- 01
Create a backup bucket
Switch on versioning and Object Lock when you create it.
- 02
Add the repository
In your backup software, add an S3-compatible repository with the Stornox endpoint and keys.
- 03
Set the lock period
Match it to how fast you would spot an attack. 14 or 30 days is common.
- 04
Seed, then schedule
Run one full backup, then let incrementals run nightly.
- 05
Restore something
A file, then a whole machine. Write down how long each took.

Job reports, storage growth and the bill. Ten minutes, once a month.
FAQ
Questions we get asked.
Can I keep using my current backup software?
Most likely. Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Veritas and Nakivo all support S3-compatible storage as a target, as do the backup apps on Synology and QNAP NAS boxes. You add Stornox with an endpoint and a pair of keys. Check your vendor's notes for your exact version.
What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?
Keep three copies of your data, on two kinds of storage, with one copy somewhere else. Stornox is a natural home for that third, off-site copy, locked with Object Lock.
How do immutable backups work?
Your backup software writes to a bucket that has Object Lock switched on and sets a retention period. Until that period ends, nobody can change or delete those backup files. See security.
How fast can I restore?
Mostly that depends on your internet link and how much you are restoring. A 1 Gbps line that stays busy moves roughly 450 GB an hour. Run a test restore during your trial to get your own number.
What does it cost?
Backup storage is billed per TB per month on the standard rate card, plus listed write charges. See pricing or use the calculator.
